| History |

|
In
1950, Ed Horton started the Pacific Sandblasting Company. He
began with one portable air compressor, a truck and a helper.
After
twelve years of building up the portable sandblast business,
he started
a shop sandblasting operation in the city of Rosemead.
His
motto was, "We Will Sandblast Anything".
From
houses to horse trailers, they did it all. |

- Original Shop Compressor |
This
old portable air compressor became the source of compressed air
for the shop. No electric starters on this old machine. It was
started with a small one cylinder diesel engine called a "pony
motor".
You first
hand
cranked the "pony motor" until it decided to start. After it warmed
up, a clutch was engaged that connected it to the main diesel
engine. After a number of revolutions, if you were lucky, the big
engine would fire off and run on its own. This was a process that
was repeated for years until an electric compressor was purchased. |

By
the end of the decade, the
operation out grew the old shop. In 1970, Ed found a larger site
for the shop a few miles away in El Monte.
This has been our home ever since.
In
1972, the company began applying industrial coatings and linings.
They concentrated on nuclear, water filtration and aerospace
projects.
By
the 1990's, the company's focus had turned completely to shop
applied protective coatings. To reflect this
change we
began operating as Applied Coatings & Linings Inc.
